Passbook Account Club?

Me again!

I did post a thread yesterday to see if any of the experienced savers would help to set up a savings challenge. Unfortunately, noone responded so ive decided to start my own challenge! :money:

I have opened an old fashioned post office account, complete with passbook, just like my mom had for me when i was little! It cost £20 to open and my main reason for opening it (sad as it may sound, lol) was so i could have a passbook to log my moneybox savings in! I like the idea of opening my passbook and seeing how much ive saved when i empty my money boxes, reminds me of when i was little!

The interest rates are variable so while it may not be the best account out there, its purely to remind me of my childhood! :D

So, is anyone interested in doing this with me, or will i have to be Billy No Mates and do it all by myself? :j

Dont think that there is anything wrong with this but you may get more joy on a different board as most people here trying to pay debts off so dont usually have much in the way of savings...good luck though!

I have a savings account with Abbey which I use to bung my monthly £100 in for MOT, car servicing, birthdays, christmas etc. Money goes in and money goes out but it does remind me of being a kiddie!

I could have a cash card if I wanted one, but feel the temptation is semi-removed so that I can't access my cash via ATMs. Probably not the best interest rates but hey... this method works for me for now...

    Good luck thou TS

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

I am not joining up becausee I am already saving but i just wanted to say that the passbook idea is excellent. I really enjoy getting my pass book updated, much better than a statement & i feel actual physical pain if i have to withdraw money for any reason. A card makes it just to easy. I have a regular saver account with Abbey, so fairly good interest & ofcourse the beloved passbook, but also I can transfer money to the account if i have any left at the end of the month(some hope). I have an amount transferred there from my current account on pay day & any other cheques or cash that i get, from ebay, refunds or whatever I take my book to the bank & pay it in.Watching the balance grow is a favourite hobby! Sad but true!

    Good luck

Actually it's not a bad idea... I have the village post office just down the road from me... so it would be really easy for me to drop things in like all my change bags... Does anyone know if the post office would accept change bags like that? They'd all be pre-done as I got them from the bank heehee and I fill them up and mark them with the amounts etc as indicated on the front of the bag...

Also a good idea for a £2 savers or £1 savers... if I have the coins I'll just spend them if they are around :)
