Budget kitchen worktops false economy?

Wickes have some matt (not glossy) worktops for just over £60 per 3metre, the rest range from £100, I'm wondering if it's false economy to buy the cheap one if it's going to scratch or mark easily. I'd appreciate some advice if you know please as my hubby is set to buy these.

all wickes tops are the same the 100 ones are just colour and surface texture that is the trend now, they are all made at the same place. stay away from the black as they show the scratches more than the other colours.

All Wickes worktops are made by Wilsonart and are to the same specification. They sell some cheaper, as they buy them in bulk and they sell more of them...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

  • Thankyou this is very helpful.
  • I use wooden chopping blocks on my worksurfaces to prevent scratches. They (Working tops) are just cheap ones but have no marks on them at all.

Having worked with various work tops the best on the market are duropal can be bought from landaff laminates cardiff for £90 a 3m length. search duropal and maybe there's a supplier near you. ps. steer clear of retail and look for trade outlets.
