Santander charges

Ok folks here goes;
On 5th January I had a DD declined because there wasnt enough money in the account (no quibble with that - it was a new DD which I forgot about!)
Santander wrote to me telling me that they would charge me £35 for this bounced DD, the charge was applied to my account on 13th February, and since I dont have any surplus of money between wages the account went £31 o/d until I got paid again at the end of Feb.
On 13 March they applied a £25 charge for an unauthorised overdraft during February. This left my account £5 o/d. When I phoned to query this they refunded the initial £35 as a "goodwill" gesture
On 13 april they then charged me another £25 unauthorised overdraft since my account was overdrawn in March for a few days, they now say it is a valid charge since my accont was o/d (even though it was because they charged me) and also since I have already received a goodwill gesture there is nothing more they can do.
I dont argue about the DD rejection charge but I do object to the further charges, especially as they are incurred due to charges being made. If they had refunded the first £25 charge as a "goodwill" gesture then they wouldnt have had the need to charge me again.
I am unable to go any further on the telephone, should I go now to my branch and try to further this - or is it a case of shutting up and taking my oil ?
Thankfully I'm still quids in as I got £100 for opening the account, but at this rate they'll soon have it back !!:)

Thanks for that.
I thought I had a fair idea about the bank charge reclaiming scenario, but found this article a very useful guide.
