Evening all!
My dad has been living in New Zealand for a few years now and he is a fab gardener and veg grower. He knows that I am (trying) to grow some veg for the first time and phoned me tonight to tell me that he had grown 'an unusual and interesting shaped carrot'. He has decided to sell it on NZ's equivalent of ebay (TradeMe) for charity.
Make sure you enlarge the photo for a better view
:rotfl:;)!!

That is brilliant!!!!!! I grew something similar last year but on a smaller scale. Wish I'd known there was such a market for them! Apparently you get better weird shaped ones if you put manure in. Might try a bit this year for the 'fun factor'.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

Tee Hee!! Reminders of Esther Rantzen and That's Life. Nice to see he's giving the proceeds to charity. Well done your dad.:T0

yes apparently they fork towards food, so if you give some miracle gro on one side of the row / pot they will all start bending that way! Not sure how you get legs and a willy though...0

I really like the fact proceeds go to charity - read some of the questions they asked your D and he seems a top guy!0

Ah bless you, he's simply the best dad you could wish for and I miss him a lot

Apparently they don't like being transplanted, which will often cause them to fork... Also growing them with lots of fertiliser can cause forking too. That said, this is all theoretical, as our first attempt at carrots last year was a bit pathetic!Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0
