Just bought a Personal Cd Player off Ebay, nothing special, only for listening to meditation cd's etc.
P&P was £4.99 so decided max bid was £5.01 = £10.00, nice round figure to my ordered little mind.
One other bid = starting bid of .99p.
Won it for max bid of exactly £5.01, never done that before, is my ordered little brain being overly active in wondering if this is 'coincidence' or a bit of 'jiggery pokery'.
Am not complaining, yet, that may be next if it never arrives, (more reading of this thread = Hotmail addresses), which I only noticed after I had paid but he/she is a Power Seller so I do not anticipate any problems.
Just curious and wondering what others think really.

I take it the other bid went up to £4.01.... or perhaps a little more?
If your bid was higher than theirs I think yours will win, even if it's not a full increment higher. (Can't remember what the increments are at that level... £1?)
If you're suspicious, check for bid retractions, and check whether the seller and underbidder are in similar locations. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I bet the other person bid £5? Have you checked the bid history?0

Thnx Hintza, you were spot on, another bidder, newbie with x4 f/b kicked in at £2.00 & £5.00, the original .99p bidder did'nt bid again.
No Fay not suspicious, just curious, Ebay froze just after it confirmed me as highest bidder and I had to disconnect & sign on again, forgot to check on bid history during techno battle with PC hence question posted here, am pretty sure there will not be any probs, just ignore me everyone else does when I ask stupid questions! ;-D
Thanks to you both for your time and input, much appreciated. :-)Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and agressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit0 -

Quick follow up, looks like my instinct was right after all, the CD Player is a crock of s**t.
Arrived this morning, think it was the Velcro strip that gave it away:D (needs the velcro attached to top right corner to apply pressure otherwise it thinks the door is open and wont play. the volume control = nil.
Not sure if I have added the link correctly or not, just in case anyone wants to view but not important.
Have sent message via Ebay, see below, so now have to play the waiting game.
I know it's only £10.00 but that's a months food for my dog's
Good Morning,
Received the Goodmans CDMP3 Player, item Number 150017822823 in post today, have unpacked and tested it,found the following faults:
1. The door mechanism is faulty and will not read a CD unless pressure is applied to the top right corner of the unit,(it arrived with a piece of Velcro stuck to this area obviously intended to apply the required pressure to enable player to read a disk, bit of a give away really!)
2. The volume control on the player does not work at all.
Your listing states it is an ex display in perfect condition, boxed but with no instruction book.
This is incorrect: It is not in perfect condition: the door closing mechanism is faulty and the volume control does not work.
The box contained an instruction manual & guarantee card just incase you were not aware of this either.
A full refund including the cost of return P&P is requested as would be the case if an item not as described dispute was raised via PayPal. Feedback witheld until matter resolved.Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant, they too have their story.
