DO NOT blackmail your ex-landlord under any circumstances. Send him a recorded delivery letter asking for your property to be made available or you will seek redress through the courts. I am pretty sure this is a civil not a criminal matter, therefore nothing to do with the police.
I agree. Don't tell his employer anything until after you have your possessions returned.

Thank you all for your replies,
My problem is not such former land lord not forwarding post as I have set up Royal Mail redirection to my new address, the problem is that I am not able to get the rest of my belongings which were left on day of my moving out.
I had - due to situation - put my belongings into bin bags for speed and ease, once I had left house to welcome freind who came to help me move I did not have access to house and so could not check to see if anything was left.
My biggest fear is that I have missing bank statements and worry that they might end up on land fill or worse.
I think he is avoiding me because he has 'slung' the stuff, but we work for the same company - all be it a very large one - so we will bump into each other sooner or later.
If I or others can't reason with him then I feel I would wish to make our issue public and name and shame him - hopefully in a way that avoids him trying to claim slander.

Oh dear, clearly a grievance still held.

Would your ex landlord think that you owe rent, given that you say you "quickly with little warning"? Even with no written contract, you paid rent and he accepted you as a lodger, so there is a contract.

why not ask him politely at work when you can come and collect the rest of your things... at least you will have a witness there to see the response

How will your employer feel about allegations made by one employee against another relating to a personal dispute?
