need help i've damaged my dining table

you'll laugh when you read this but need a quick fix, i was ironing yes on my dining table i usually use a towel but today didnt have one to hand so used a blanket it was folded with 4 layers as to not damaged the table. but when i finished (only ironed 3 things for a wedding tomoz) theres marks on the table they look like sun marks aghhhh what do i do? its a wood effect table from ikea not new but now these look VERY noticable.
any suggestions would be great for my stupidity

Rub the mayonnaise in to the scorch mark...mind you I just read wood effect, so not a real wood table? If it is a plastic coat over mdf then I think you have had it, buy a fruit bowl...it will look good on the table cloth

Was it a steam iron?
Because, if it was, and you're really, really lucky, the marks might be a sort of water bloom on the polish, and they might dry out.

with real wood, the answer is to iron brown wrapping paper, on the burn mark.
its got to be the old fashioned brown paper for parcels.Get some gorm.0
