Can I reclaim money for a transaction on my Visa Debit card?

Hi All, I was looking for some advice and thought this would be the best place to ask.

About 5 months ago I helped out a friend who needed to pay an invoice to a supplier for his company. Unfortunately his company has now gone into liquidation and he cannot pay me back. Is there any possibility for me to reclaim the money I paid from my card to the supplier bearing in mind the invoice was for my friends company and not myself?

Many Thanks

I don't see any legal avenue for this, and I somehow doubt your card issuer would allow a chargeback, as the transaction would appear to have been completed satisfactorily.

I would file this in the 'won't see that again' part of your accounts. Speak to the friend and see if you can arrange something with them, but that would be the only course for you to follow.

You lent some money to a friend, didn't you?

Does he not feel duty bound to pay you back?

I really hope he does feel bound to pay me back, but at the moment it doesn't look like it :(

Can you not put in a claim to the liquidaters, ok you may or may not get your money back but its worth a try
