Fine, but why enrish the uranium beyond the level you need to produce electricity and upto weapons grade?"I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. and your evidence of them doing this is? perhaps you should show your sources to the security council. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -

why are so surprised? iran doesn't have enough coal to run their electricity from that, what to do expect them to use to generate electricity? burning oil would be a very expensive way to generate electricity.
how is iran the same as north korea. they are not similar at all - for a start iran's president was, whether you like him or not, democratically elected.
i was responding to the user that replied to my original post, where i said iran was not a threat to the uk
That's a joke, right? 400 candidates banned from standing, the results being announced 10 minutes after polls closed (it took weeks to count votes in Iraq), no international monitors, opposition candidates losing their highly tribal home towns, Ahmedinejad winning more votes in certain regions than there were people living there, no court challenges for losing candidates. I could go on.0 -
i'm off to iran this summer for my b-i-l's wedding. we have lots of family over there. they don't have the option not to be there. i hope we would never consider nuking them with bombs paid for from my taxes.
Lovely people, the Iranians, except some of those in charge. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I have no doubt at all that we would commit conventional forces to defend our allies, possibly even tactical nukes. I am less, a lot less, convinced that we would commit to all-out nuclear warfare on our allies' behalf if that would lead to the almost total annihilation of our population, and I suspect that our allies would take the same view about defending us - particularly our allies sitting safely on the other side of the Atlantic. No reliance should be placed on the above! the way of M.A.D.ness (mutually assured destruction). you don't get rid of a nutjob leader or protect your population by annihilating theirs. the bombs can just wave at each other mid air as they pass hey?
All very true.
However, you cannot deny it's a very, very good deterrant. I know as a game, lets all count the times an overtly nuclear armed state has been invaded by another state.
Finished counting yet peeps?Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0 -

I counted to two so far. Any advance on that?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Israel was only one on my list, and everyone knows they have nuclear bombs - either that or it's the biggest bluff ever.
This country was invaded by Argentina, yet we didn't nuke BA (I'm pleased to say).No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
