Im off to Egypt in July and wondered if anyone know the trip prices that the travel companies are charging,mainly Hurghada to Cairo 2 days by coach and Hurghada to Luxor 2 days by coach,I have been looking at booking with www.egyptexcursions.co.uk and wondered if anyone has used them...thankyou:-)

Have you posted your question on the Hurghada Tripadvisor forum http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g297549-i9198-Hurghada_Red_Sea_and_Sinai.html ? Or use the search facility on the forum and type "luxor" or "luxor by coach" to pick up threads on the topic.

We took a "Private" overland/overnight Luxor trip from Hurghada when we were there in February 2007. I booked online with Viator and paid USD$708 for 4 passengers. The price this July is over £170 per passenger which is obviously a lot more than Egypt Excusions are charging but we didn't want to join an organised coach trip and decided to pay extra for a private tour. It is well worth going to Luxor; we had an amazing trip.

When we were in Sharm in February 2009 we did a day trip to Cairo by air. This was booked with Sharm Club from the UK but that's not much help to you as they are obviously based in Sharm. Of the two tours, the Luxor one was by far the most interesting and enjoyable so if you only have the time and/or money for one my choice would be Luxor. Having said that, a drive through Cairo city is an experience in itself - never mind the pyramids!

I dont know how much the prices are but i would advise you to book whilst out there, there are loads of tour companies that do the excursions and it'll be alot cheaper than booking in advance online.

Whatever you do, dont book with the hotel rep (as we did) or it'll cost you alot more and you'll still only be going with one of the tour companies from the town.

When my husband and I holidayed in Hurghada in Sept 05 we decided to take the flight excursion to Luxor whilst other travellers took the coach excursion. Imagine our surprise when we arrived at the airport to find we were the only couple who decided to fly.
Our trip still went ahead though, so for that day we had our own personal guide and driver instead of sharing with others. Our guide even took us on board one of the cruise boats briefly (public area only) as a friend worked on it. It was a brilliant trip and well worth the money. For this we had a visit to a number of temples and the Valley of the Kings, lunch in Luxor, and a boat trip on the Nile which was very refreshing after the heat of the day. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about his country's history and was prepared answer any question I asked him about the places we were visiting.
I would however recommend anyone going one one of these trips to wear something loose and all- covering (kaftan or similar) as the sun is so hot and I saw people getting burnt, a large sunhat and to take plenty of sunscreen and water
