Child Tax Credits - Joint to Single

Hi
I recently separated with my wife and moved out of home. Her child tax credits were £706 per month, however this month they have only paid her £558. Any reason for this?
Also, I have been spending some time in my old home, seeing the kids and getting along with my wife. Do I need to tell them this?
If I move back in, I need to tell them. What happens if I dont tell them immediately?

The time to tell CTC I believe is when you and your wife consider yourselves a couple again and finances etc become enmeshed. If you don't tell the CTC immediately, you run the risk of someone else telling them before you do, plus you will most likely be overpaid for a period and have to repay. Whether any further action is taken would be decided by the circumstances ie whther they thought you didn't intend telling them/had wilfully not told them etc. It is far easier to be upfront with them immediately, as you obviously intend to do as you are concerned regarding consequences. Hope it all works out for you!Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0
