wftc info - is this incorrect?

Pop a question on here 2 weeks ago. Basically I stated £10k earning ( self-employed, very very quiet and dreadful year ) for 2009/2010 and only actually received £5182.00. Rang through the figures on tuesday 6th april 2010 and then had my normal weekly payment yesterday ( Thursday ). When I rang them back they stated I wouldn't get an additional payment back from wftc because we are already on the top level of wftc/tax credits . We have 3 little ones . I was under the impression we would get something back.

It is causing me so much sleepness nights as we are barely covering weekly bills at the moment.

Does anyone know if this is correct?? Many thanks

I put some fake details into this site using your details. It seems to say that you should get around £800 more wtc for earning £5182 rather than £10000.
Try putting your details into the questionnaire and if the numbers are different to what you received, use the figures mentioned when you call them up again and ask why their questionnaire is giving different results.

put all my correct info in the hmrc that you attached and it is stating £11,732.54 for the year which I should receive on the basis of stated £5182.00 for the year 2009/2010. So sorry but I am still totally confused:o

Ok, don't have the figures in front of me but from memory just under £8000 of this £11732.54 is child tax credits. That won't change however little/much you earn (under £15k). The other £4000 ish is working tax credit. This is based on your income and if you put your details in for £10k and £5k you will see there is a difference in the wtc you are entitled to. This is £800 ish higher on the smaller income.
If you give them a call and ask why their calculator is saying you should get £x wtc, whereas you only got £x. There may be more to this that I am not too knowledgeable about - did you earn more last year 08/09?

Does your wife/ partner work? My calculations assumed no...

partner doesn,t work and 2008/2009 figure was £6150.00. So slightly higher. I am on hold to wftc as we speak.

Good luck with your call. I'm not an expert on wtc so hopefully one of the more knowledgeable posters will be along if you don't get what you want from the helpline.

On the other hand, could it be you have to wait for your end of year declaration thingy (sent out between now and July)that you sign and return and you'll get the extra then? Just a thought, as this year is the first I've had more than the minimum ctc of £10 a week and it's still a bit new to me :).

Helpful,a bit .... ANyway, won't give me any figures over underpayment over the phone. Also could not comment on the hmrc website....:o Have to wait for the paperwork within the next couple of days. She took down our figures for next year and the £5182.00 as the definate figure for 2009/2010.

More sleepness nights ahead of me.
