No, but I would suggest you buy some new seed, if the first lot failed then the second could also. How did you sow them and treat them?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

No, not too late, especially if they're destined to grow out of doors as you can't really plant them outside until early June for fear of late frost. Failure to germinate could be due to old seed, or using old infected compost. In a warm room they should germinate within 5 - 6 days.0

Tomatoes are hardy beasts, can you describe how they failed, it could be your method rather than the seed. Waste of money to buy more seed if you still have some left. Gardener's Delight are right thugs, and probably the easiest to grow from seed for a first time tom grower. Many people over water. They need light more than warmth.0

I used fresh wickes compost I usually use JAB but tried wickes this year added a little Blood fish and bone to the compost mixed it in and added the seeds one by one to each 6cm pot and left them in my house they did germinate but couldn't hold themselves up thought about adding a little Viagra to the compost but didn't Thought it might have been to much heat had pulled them so i did a second batch in the Greenhouse with just a little heat to keep the chill off but still the same result. I had this problem 2 years ago they all failed and had to buy plants in the end but last year i had great results soo many tomato plants i advertised them in Freecycle and gave them away. I cant see what i did different last year to this year thought i had grown them all the same was going to put exactly the same way but i couldn't spell exactly.

I would have thought that they died from an excess of nutrients. Its not necessary to add extra nutrient to a multipurpose compost, having done so and germinated at a high temp there would have been a rush of nutrient which would have overwhelmed them. Either use a seed compost or the multipurpose as supplied, sow the seed and keep at 12-15deg C. You can give them a week feed after about 3-4 weeks,I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I agree with Peter the Piper, most seeds have enough nutrients in their seed pods to germinate, I don't start fussing over my toms until they start flowering/fruiting.0

Second this bit - i've had my tomatoes outside in an unheated greenhouse since March simply because I want them to get the light as soon as the sun comes up - if they have to wait for me to get up and open the curtains they'll miss out on lots of lovely sunshine. Obviously if a frost is forecast I might take them inside but apart from that I just let them get on with it.0
