Natwest account review

Natwest have asked me to come in for an account review. The young man said to update information they have about my account - really can't see why this couldn't have been done over the phone.

What can I expect from them? Is the review only a way to try and sell me one of their fee paying accounts? I have no money to invest in anything. In fact, my money comes in and goes out just as fast. I am definitely not a good prospect for anyone's commission.

I'd like to hear other people's experiences.

an "account review" is where they look at your account and then try and find crap to sell you, it's highly likely to be a complete waste of your time, the whole exercise is basically for marketing purposes.

what can you do? just don't bother turning up and if they phone you, don't make any further appointments.

As has been said, it's just a sales pitch.

It would be far more productive from your point of view to spend 10 minutes looking at this page and see if your account is the best for you. Natwest will only offer you Natwest accounts, and they are not necessarily the best that are available.

Of course, if you'd rather just help Natwest to meet their sales targets, you could always go for the review.

Do phone them first, to tell them that you're not coming in. Whether or not you agree with what they are doing, it's polite to let them know not to expect you.
  • Thanks for the replies. I called them to cancel and while the lady said the review is not about selling me things, she still kept telling me about how much money they saved a customer last week and how much they would be able to help me. I told her thanks, but no thanks.

It can be done over the telephone if you call actionline and asked to be put through to TAS (Telephone Advisory Service).

Update information on the account is definitely the hook to get you to come in. And telling someone how much the saved someone the previous week, ie loan to clear credit cards. If you are on MSE then I would do your own mini review looking at all the cheapest deals on Home Insurance, Credit Cards, Home Insurance, Savings....I am sure StClair can confirm that I have gone through the main headings of the review.
And they'll give you a mortgage quote as well if you have a mortgage, lol.

  • Once in the Preston Branch the women in the counter said we will contact you for a account review soon. As soon as I came home I complained to Natwest and I have a letter from the Deputy Branch Manager saying that they have took note of my comments and hae removed me from future marketing exercises.
Never be sold anything from a bank.
