How to Value Two Volvo's?
Comments

Looking at what others go for on AutoTrader, V70s with similar mileages seem to go for around £2k. What Cars? valuation seems to be about right.Lack of money is the root of all evil.

I don't quite understand why his reg doesn't fit. The spec says 96-99 when i type the reg in, but W reg cars are 2000.I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0

She said it was a W plate, so 2000?
There's one on ebay for over 2k and that hasn't got a leather interior or mileage that low.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Given that the OP has a buyer lined up for both cars I think they should let him make an offer. As they stand, with no MoT's, anything over £2,300 for the pair is probably worth considering. This isn't a normal sale and, in the circumstances, there has to be some value to getting them sold quickly and with minimal fuss.0

Yeah, my grandma has a lot to sort which as you can tell i'm helping with. When the time comes i shall post how much is offered and you can all let me know what you think.I get what i want. Trying to remember when exactally he got it.
There is a difference in the car you searched for. Means nothing to me:
You searched: Volvo V70 Estate 2.5 20v SE 5dr 1999 (T )
Grandads is: V70 T ESTATE 2.5 T SE 5dr Auto
don't know if the 20v bit makes a difference
Its possible though, if he bought from a dealer he would have paid more than a private sale and he may have paid a bit more at the time than the going rate for various reasons such as low miles, great condition etc.
The one I searched is the same (although I didnt specify that is was an auto). The 20V is the amount of valves the engine has and all the 2.5T engines were 20V as far as I know.
The reason it could be a 2000W is that it was registered late, could have been sat in a showroom etc, it's not uncommon to see this sort of thing.
Like people have said it might be worth asking the person interested to make you an offer. I'd say he/she may know something about these cars to be interested in both of them so will probably have an idea of what they are worth? You can then take it from there... keep in mind you wont have the hassle of advertising, having timewasters call, view the cars etc so with this in mind even if you took a bit less than what you might be able to get for them it could be worth it.
Did you say this one had 70,000 miles? If you factor that in to the valuation you get quite a different result.
Volvo V70 Estate 2.5 T SE 5dr 1999 (T ) 70,000 miles
Dealer £3,070
Private £2,735
Part exchange £2,695
Trade £2,545
Cost new £27,970
The fact it is a year younger will also help resale but whatcar wont let me put anything past 1999.0 -
Remember both these cars are out of MoT. That's a likely minimum of £100 (if they both pass) plus the time spent organising.
The older one hasn't been driven for over a year and probably wasn't driven much in the previous year or two. Even the younger one is 10 years old. It's quite possible that there could be a £500 bill and some hassle that may or may not be recoverable in the increased value of having MoTs.0 -
Thanks for the advice. My grandad loved volvo's. Were his pride and joy but my grand 4ft 2 and hasn't driven for 10 years. Sticking her in 'the beast' as he used to call it won't be a great plan.:o
We shall see what happens. They are both in excellent condition and well maintained so hopefully somebody will appreciate that.I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -
misssarahleigh wrote: »Well the issue is a friend of my grandma's neighbour has expressed interest in buying them (as mentioned in my first post).
So it's not a case of advertising etc as if this person can offer a reasonable amount my grandma has plenty of other things to sort.
The issue is knowing what a reasonable amount is.
Then simply go by what they arer advertised for/sell for on the net, not always the same thing but a few phone calls should give the answers.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
