Not a financial blog as such, but Becoming Minimalist is a good read as it encourages buying less of everything, with the knock-on being less money spent[/Ah yes, that’s one of the ones I’ve been reading for the last year or so too.... it’s actually quite addictive all of the minimalism and FI stuff isn’t it 😊

Ah, just though another good blog if you like this one, is “be more with less” which is by a lady called Courtney carver who kicked of the whole project 333 capsule wardrobe thing years ago....

I love Becoming Minimalist - I've only just discovered it and am reading the entire back catalogue... I also recently read 'Goodbye Things' by Fumio Sasaki - he takes it way too far for me, but it was a really interesting read (and part of me wishes I could live like him!).

The adjusted married tax code has come through, I’ve transferred my £1250 to dh , he is on a lower tax code though due to tax owed on drawing dividends in the past, don’t think it will make much if any difference this year.

Work was not much fun yesterday, I was happier when I used to be a cleaner to be honest. It’s part of the reason I want to be mf , then dh can do something else if it gets too much and I can do that or even retire nice and early! The rent will cover the whole of dhs wages when the factory mortgage is paid off and he’s the main earner. Mind you if yesterday is anything to go by I’m not sure we can work together for another four years

Luckily today I’m not working and for the first time in weeks am out with lovely best friend, tea and toast for breakfast and a sandwich out for lunch, I do have vouchers for free hot drinks I acquired to use at m&s so it won’t be too much and is my treat time :)

Ordered the flooring yesterday after work with dad and his h@wdens discount card, £1188 with all the extra bits needed, the guy is starting Monday and we can’t collect most of the order until next Friday! Will need to reorganise that. I also thought it might be best to strip the walls before he starts if we can, it’s one huge room though so a bit daunting, will probably just use lining paper and paint white, I can’t make descisions on decor in matter of days :rotfl: looks like the money I have will just about cover it all though :T

Hi vix, It’s what we have already , if very worn out :D

New cards are all through now, I’m thinking the best way forward is to stop using the cash I’m living off and switch to the new cc , that way I can top up the cash in the bank with enough to give dad all the money for the floor now , he won’t have to wait a few weeks until I don’t have usual cc bill through if that makes sense.

Clearly I’m on a low budget until feb though and I’m not changing that :money: so cash in purse left is £290 (until 4th feb) so £10 a day and a current £30 and change surplus :T but I need food :o

So as it’s the 10th I will start using the cc. If the bills work in the same way as my current cc , I shouldn’t be a million miles away with statement dates and when payments are due, perhaps a few days difference maybe. This means a bill of £290 due the end of fab instead of the £560 allowance , so a nice extra op next month :T

Flooring guy now starting a week later so work to do this weekend. Today I’m taking a very fed up dd to the cinema to cheer her up, her work placement after the (flipping expensive) course is useless, no chance of a job, they haven’t given her any work except sit and wait for emails to give a generic answer , for four months, unpaid, whilst paying for zone one travel, with no chance of getting a job. So she’s left. We are trying get a difference placement at the moment. It’s the first time in her life I’ve ever told her to leave something....

    Budget all sounds in hand.

So sorry to hear about DD's placement though. It sounds awful, no wonder she needs cheering up! I agree about leaving - being there is clearly of no benefit at all. Good luck to her finding something new - from what you've said she's really bright and super motivated so I'm sure she'll find something soon!
