Mmm thanks greent
Finances checked over, the first part of the £20 a day challenge is completed and I have £4.57 left :T second part starts tomorrow and will again be £20 a day from 5/3 - 5/4.
Ive squeezed and extra £40 into premium bonds in top of the usual £50pm that is part of the mfw op target (£300 pm is savings) so it’s all going ok.
Weight loss this week 3/4 of a pound, amazing considering what I’ve eaten this weekend :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
That's so horrible about the attack, very sad news. Can't imagine.
Nice one on premium bonds. I still have the 100 my parents put in there all those years ago and I still get small wins sometimes. It makes me smile as its something I forget about until I get those winning letters0 -
They have just reduced the minimum purchase price to £25 kaycastle, previously it was £100 or £50 via standing order. I like them, I don’t play the lottery or save a lot but there’s always that chance
Spent £43 in mr t last night - yesterday and today’s budget and £3 out of Thursdays. Made lots of pancakes which everybody except dh enjoyed as they cat stole his and ate them :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I’m very lucky to be off to a spa day today, best friends dh likes to buy her a voucher for Xmas and it’s always for two :T I have even bought a new swimming cozy to wear as mine about as old as my children
Not much to report financially except I have spent rather a lot of money on garden furniture  we currently have a wooden six seater table and chairs that’s old but fine, but I wanted a couple of sofas as there are often more of us at weekends. They can be very expensive and I want to buy cheap ones. Yesterday I found some rattan armchairs in the sale at b&q reduced from £100 each to £4O each so I bought six, unfortunately they had sold out of the coffee table, so I ended up buying one from an eBay seller, bit dearer than I wanted to pay - £82 but I think the whole set will be very comfy and hopefully get used a lot if we entertain a bit more.
Not quite sure how I’m paying for it yet, if I can’t work it out I will use birthday money and a bit of savingsMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Phew, finally updated for Feb. Not a terrible month considering I’ve done a lot of spending, all of the extra cash I’ve allowed has gone on the deopit for a trip to centreparcs for dd when she finishes uni and garden sofas and coffee table.
More temptation today as my aunt is selling her convertible beetle, it’s old (2004) but like a brand new car, under 40k miles. So I’m probaly going to buy it for £2000. I should sell the Mercedes we have but think we will probaly give it to a friend at work as he’s done loads for us over the years and down the have much money and has always wanted the car. He currently has a 2007 Ford Ka whch we could swap it for for then kids to learn to drive in and share.
It’s all unplanned spending though even if it does seem like a good plan.it will have to come from the kitchen pot, but as we are still waiting to get the bedrooms done it seems it won’t be too imminent!

The swapping round of the cars all seems like a great idea, shame you are having to pay for the beetle but im sure Alex would tell you to go for it !!! Lol

Thanks daisy, not sure Alex would approve of a beetle, it’s bit girly :rotfl: it’s pale blue and comes with bluebelles in a vase on the dash so I will be calling her Belle
Went for coffee and a wander round the shops with dd this morning, bought myself a white cotton thin robe for the cruise, some short pjs and bought some underwear, a top and primarni converse for Dd (all with a birthday gift card I recieved which is a bit naughty).MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Not a great week for weight loss - 2.5 lb on  ive lost weight every week since starting (7 weeks ago) up until now! Birthday chocolates and cake has caught up with me perhaps
Hopefully I can turn it around, this Friday I’ll be starting a clubbercise class
I’m feeling a little worried over the money the new car will cost along with insuring the ka for the kids, it feels like right thing to do but is so much unplanned spendingwe have the money in the kitchen pot, but realistically we won’t be able to get the kitchen done on a £3500 budget! The bedroom budget is only £1700 for both rooms including floors/electrics /plastering etc. (After I bought all new beds and furniture) I think even with the builder doing it at cost price for labour and materials it’s very optimistic.
Not sure what to do really as I knew the budgets were tiny anyway but thought we’d have everything done in a basic way. As the builder is doing it as a favour it’s virtually impossible to get a price, he just says I’ll do it cost as a favour
It’s much harder having the factory mortgage finances effectively connected to the home mortgage. We are hoping to add the personal mortgage to the business one in three years time. But I’ve just found out it’s a five year term at the moment with penalties for early repayment.
I’m not sure if I shouldn’t have just extended the home mortgage term a lot when we emptied the offset to lend to the business? I miss not making regular little ops and am slightly worried about being able to flip the mortgages in three years time.
The long term home improvements we have waited years to do we don’t really have enough for now, it’s a little frustrating as next month would have been our mf date. The business mortgage will be gone in five years and the rent will be an extra £2k before tax coming in per month a tax least.
I’m not really sure what to do, dh and I have been talking it over for the last few days. The only thing I’m not prepared to do is go full on extreme oping at the moment as I want to help the kids with driving lessons.
Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble, any input would be greatly receivedMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Think we have been in similar positions. It really is a challenge to not to do everything for your children. Can't they take responsibility for themselves? for driving? We had a lifetime of saving £10 pcm for our girls. So about £3k half for car and half for insurance. but the was her 18 birthday present ( 7 years ago  ) same for DD2 but she wasted hers on her doomed uni experience. DD2's 21st present was driving lessons. She's an adult now so a car is her responsibility. We are the fools who gave dd1 a deposit for a house (around £8k ) and are continually her child support. I understand it's really difficult to separate encouragement and independence to doing it for them.
House wise wanting our renovations more quickly has meant I've put things on ccs... not great , but I'm only just getting back in control. however , different jobs have become apparent. and our blue 30yo bathroom can last a bit longer whilst I get myself straight. equally the kitchen can last another 6 months because I want plastering and a patio laid first. How many months will it take you to save the difference?
I caved on newer car too after OH car died. I can live with 6 months delay on bigger jobs to recoup and deal with the changes. can you wait 6 monthsMortgage restart June 2018 £119950Re mortgage August 19 £110470, … Mortgage November 22 £85600 final 0% CC 3300Home renovations - £65000, mid 2018 - mid 20220
