I've been at this all day now! Op figures updated , and we are behind target a lot this year. We won't reach the 20k target, I made an £1800 op to the business loan we have earlier in the year as I was going to prioritise that , now however its mortgage first everything else second. I've included it in my total though.

My throat has been not right again this week, I suffered from globus earlier in the year (lump in the throat feeling usually caused by stress) it took months to go. It s not as bad as when I had it last time , just tightness etc. Hopefully getting on top of things will help. Stress sometimes seems to layer up, with more than one thing worrying you at a time , its a snowball effect.

I can deal with the finances though, a good challenge might be just the thing to get my teeth into.

We are probably not helping your short term stress levels. Hoping that we will help with the long term ones!

Delurking to say I really admire the way you have handled all comments; they are all designed to help but it must have been really hard to read.

Well done on reacting so positively and proactively.

He Kate nice to meet you and thanks for the lovely comments, not much point in keeping a diary people can read and comments on and then ignoring them! I've lost my way I guess and need a kick up the behind, good job for the tough love of the mfw's :D Although yes some is hard to read!

  • We know you can do it! You'll have at least 20 years earning power after your mort has finished then to blast everything else you want to do and you'll be young:j.

Just another thought, would you be better off working somewhere else if there is stress with you and DH?

Hope you don't get a relapse of the sore throat, as others have said everyone is just trying to help:D

  • BF and I work in our own business and clash a lot. Our area of work has a great deal of money/snobbery so I know exactly how you feel. We have been doing this for 10 years and have got over, we overlook it now but it's taken a while to get used to.

About 2 years ago we decided to get our house in order business wise. We stopped overspending and paid off our overdraft. It's taken 18 months but we are now getting there although it is tight from time to time.

We did the same for out personal finances starting this year. Tbh now I love telling people we are saving and paying off our mortgage. Where we live it's quite affluent and now I'm proud to tell everyone of our plans! They think we are crazy but that just makes me more determined!

Keep your chin up, stop spending anything you don't need to and make a plan. Worry not what others think.
  • Hi Newgirly, you say DH is self employed, is that as a sole trader? If the business were a limited company, then it doesn't matter if the business doesn't make a profit as DH & yourself would be classed as employed & any money you take out the business would be a proper salary & it may make it much easier to re-mortgage a couple of years from now if you're both drawing a decent wage (which you must be if you're thinking of paying £1800 a month off your mortgage) - just wondered if it was sonething you'd thought of?

Glad you've taken our comments in such a positive way :T.

A bit confused here - I thought your mortgage was IO but you've said it will be paid off in 7 years? Do you have an endowment or something?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

I'm a director of a limited company and have had to provide both personal and company accounts when proving affordability for my mortgage every time. Most company directors take a minimal salary and then take dividends for tax reasons if not there's not really a great deal of point of incorporating.
