Hi GG, it's a great centre - battlesbridge, it's quite big with lots of books and crannys with all sorts.
Dh bought me a palmistry hand, I already have a phrenology head bought at a car classic car show last year, they actually had one in sale Sunday for £54 exactly the same as mine that we only paid £20 for. The hand kind of goes with the head
I have to say it's well worth a visit, It's quite close to basildon by the way.
One of the stranger sellers had a room full of animal skeletons and taxidermy including a bag glass jar full of unborn puppies :eek:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Ooh, they had a phrenology head on Bargain Hunt the other week.
It certainly sounds like a place I'd like. Maybe in the summer we'll go 'over the water' for a day out, and have a look round.
Basildon used to be one of the places we'd go shopping when I was little. The thing I remember most is a sort of water feature / fountain thing in the shopping precinct. This was the 1960's, so things have probably changed since then.Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
I remember the fountain too, long gone now
I've been like one of those crazy people on grabbit today who buy tons of stuff in the boots saleI popped in on the way home from work and all the shelves were bare, then they started bringing out big trolleys of stuff and putting it out
Big Soap and glory bags £30 /£9 , plus way too much stuff to mention but I spent £93 in total and got £310 worth of stuff, pjs slippers and lots of nice sticking fillers so am very happy.
I will have to borrow it from the savings, but at 70% off it had to be done, xmas shopping is well on the way
Tomorrow we are going to view the factory that's up for auction, probably us and 500 others but it's worth a look i suppose!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Well we went to view the factory , along with 12 or so others. It's a wreck basically but big enough, needs probably £20 k plus labour to make it usable. I have no idea what dh is planning on doing at the moment.
dh has applied for a personal unsecured loan for 35k  still waiting to see if we get it or not. That will still not be enough for either property but will reduce the amount we need to borrow if we take the dearer loan from the broker. All in all pretty worrying stuff!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I was wondering how many of you MFWs are overpaying on the mortgage so you can buy an even bigger/better house when you have finished. It seems that there are two different ways of looking at becoming mortgage free, those that want the security of no debt and being financially better off, and those that are doing this as a means to an end,so they can one day own their dream house, which may be otherwise out of reach. I am asking as I can't decide which of these I am. It does not stop me wanting to work hard to become MF, but knowing the end goal may help a little.
Some people thrive in their surroundings and you seem to be one of them. If a bigger/better house is what will bring joy to you, and if your lifestyle and income allow it, then put that dream house as your goal. You can cut back on other things you really do not want and keep what you need to get to that goal faster. Good luck.0 -
Oh dear, I am an idiot! I've smashed the screen of my iPad
trying to be healthy and frugal batch cooking some soup and chilli this morning and a spice jar fell out of the cupboard. Will have to pay to get it repaired now. Perhaps it's a sign I shouldn't start my diet tomorrow after all
I'm off to see queen and Adam lambert tonight with my mum and dd at the O2 , no meal first this time though I'm trying to save some money as I've spent so much on gifts this month.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Oh no, hope it's not too costly to get repaired. Have a great evening, sounds like a fab concert.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Thanks cath, it was amazing and we got right to the front too.:D
So much is going on at the moment I just haven't had the time to catch up on mse. Dh has been approved for the £35k loan he applied for to help with the purchase. Everything is all so up in the air at the moment, not sure what our plans will be financially this year now.:(
I've started a healthy eating plan (not diet!) since yesterday, porridge, homemade soup then veggie chilli and sweet potato for dinner - to be repeated until I get my act together and cook more dishes :rotfl: seen as I've not had alcohol since Boxing Day , Im surprised I've lost no weight at all really.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I've had a horrid bug or virus since Weds, only just got up today. I did stay at work weds which was a mistake as I think that made things worse.
Its payday today, so I might spend the afternoon working out a new financial plan. dh was approved for the 35K loan, so im going to carry on clearing the 0%cc incase we can't renew them.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Sending you a big hug NG ((HUG)) Its a horrible bug that's doing the round, take it as easy as you can till you get your energy back.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck
