An early start again today, this time because our dog had escaped the kitchen through a closed stair gate, and found the bags of wrapped xmas presents in the conservatory , opened one and eaten a whole large chocolate santa and big gold coin.
After having a look online I went to one of those online vet question websites and paid £13 for the answer that she will be ok, she would have to eat 3x as much for it to be toxic. I feel a bit bad not just taking her to the vet but she seems ok, and the last out of hours appointment at our vet for the cat cost £280.
Anyway. will keep a close eye on her as he said she will probably have an upset tummy.
I am so tired now as dh's phone alarm has been going off every hour through the night even though it was "definatly turned off now", and had the dog not taken ill I may have comitted murder by the morning.:(
Time for a cup of tea and a trashy xmas film on sky.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Hope your dog is ok.I'm also usually thinking about home improvements or browsing rightmove! I keep telling myself that if we're prepared to increase mortgage by moving we can do our grand extension plans here. I just need to save/OP as much as possibleJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Thanks guys, the dog seems ok and dh has taken ds2 (her daddy!) out to buy her a new bed, she has one of those plastic beds with a blanket in as she eats every other bed we have bought but its so cold at night I thought i'd try her again with a nice soft bed.
I have been on the up the income board trawling through trying to find ideas for next year to make money. I had already been trying to think of a business I can start up perhaps on flea bay but have always been stuck for ideas, everthing in the world is already on there!
Anyway, i came across and interesting thread about turning £100 into £11K in a year. Its has been going a couple of years I think (origionally £10k), has anyone else seen this thread? It was interesting as lots of people on there were selling off unwanted stuff then re-investing , sometimes in new stuff, but sometimes on second hand items from ebay or boot sales. I had never really thought about doing this is to be honest it did not seem appealing, and I can be a little snobby sometimes.:o I think it may be a great way to start, and build up gradually. if you start by selling your own things and then re-invest , its not as risky.
I quite like the idea of not foccusing on one particular thing, but trying a few different ideas.
Another one I fancy doing is an xmas market stall, as it would be a fairly small outlay for the pitch plus i would have nearly a year to build up stock to sell, hopefully some of it reduced after xmas. Does anyone else on here do anything like this to up their income?MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
It is amazing what some people will buy and even more so in what some people throw away. My Dad is an antique dealer and you would not believe were he gets his stuff from. I think the trick is finding something you are interested in. Good luck with you new business.MFIT-T3 - 31 = (2012 £3050) 2013 op = £3009

Good and bad news today, the good news is that I have decided to sell some old gold that I no longer wear after seeing some posts on here about somewhere reliable, and instead of the £30 odd quid I guessed at it has come up at £370
so I am using some or all of it to start my make £10K next year challenge, not sure what to do with it yet though.
Bad news, that dh says we will need to invest somehow ( don't want to put too much detail on here) in his business as its going to have to change a lot next year. No idea how much yet or even if his plans are possible, thousands and thousands though.:(
Either way it looks like I am having to save instead of op again unless his plans change. So feeling a bit fed up with it all, in the long term it may work out very well but I don't want our plans to go on hold.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
First of all go back to the gold company and tell them you expected more money for your gold and you want them to post it back. In one of the consumer programmes they did this a couple of times with the same gold company and were paid more money.
Try not to be too disappointed you have to put on hold your financial plans, at least you are able to and looking at your signature the amount you have knocked a lot off your mortgage already is fantastic. Hopefully your investment in the business will pay back and then more.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

hi peonie, I haven't sent it off yet but will look into it further.:D
My brain is whirring ot the moment trying to think of ways to earn extra. Thats going to be the only way to op next year if at the end of the year I have made a profit. One good thing I will have soon is a cleaning job that my friend has taken on that she needs help with , only one hour a week but it all helps.
Will have to look at what forms I need to fill in for inland revenue if I will be earning. My dad is an expert on that with his own business' so will help, now dh's wages have dropped if I earn some money it won't take us over the threshold for child tax cr or child benefit though, which I suppose is a good thing.
Does anyone know if you have to include vouchers from surveys on yout tax forms by any chance?MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Gold sent off , at £12.50 per gram, so hopefully about £340 ish, I did take it into the jewellers first to make sure it was all 9ct and they offered £231 for it, so hopefully I've got a good deal.
I have already spent a lot of it, an nice red dress for dd for xmas, some undies from primarni and some xmas sweets,I will save £100 for my 2012 challenge to up my earnings, give the boys some to spend and op the rest.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
