Thanks cath, 30 litres is all there is so it will have to be ok! Apparently most 14/15 year old parties now have alcohol provided by the parents  Not in my house they don't.
I am totally broke and have family coming for a halloween indian takeaway tonight, they will all pay for their own and I was hoping dh would find £20 odd but he is broke too, so i have the SC on and am making a chickpea and spinach curry, and dh and dd will have a homemade chicken curry. I am also making chilli nan , and homemade pilau rice. I hope the others don't mind too much as my mum says they will all feel bad eating a takeaway in front of us.:o
I still have the whole house to clean , washing to do, and the log cabin to finish getting ready for tomorrow, to be honest I really can't be bothered today, only one weekend then things will quieten down a bit until december.
The boys are at the london bridge halloween experince today with my dad, I hope they are not getting too scared.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
The party went well last night, the kids had some fantastic costumes and had really gone to a lot of trouble. I have been up since 6am cleaning up the log cabin and garden, 7 bags of rubbish later  I can hardly move I am so tired. It did'nt help that some parents turned up very late to collect last night, the last one at close to twelve when it was supposed to be 10.30.
DH has taken the boys for a haircut at his mums, and I am finally getting a sit down, with a glass of wine and a leftover tube of pringles, heaven!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hi newgirly,
Glad the party went well. Hope everyone appreciated the amount of effort that went into it.
Cheers,

I think they are glad I did the party but thats not the same as appreciating how much work went into it, doing the clear up by myself was the worst.
If I even mention parties next year please stop me before I get carried away.:D
I am REALLY looking forward to back to school/work tomorrow, roll on Monday for the rest!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Been through the finances this morning and am still ontrack with the £10 a day, on the down side it looks like my work for dh may reduce a little. I will maybe use dh's money exclusively for treats and not rely on it as a regular income, at least it will help out if I try a super frugal challenge next year.
Today I would like to:- make an online op of £4
- make bread
- make weezls bean curry
- wash 6 loads and not use td
- do 3 hours work for dh
- but sweets for the hoards of trick or treaters we get
- meet mum nan and aunt at shops.:D

Good luck drying all that washing. My one load of the day is in the TD as we speak!
Glad the party went well and i'm sure your efforts were appreciated. I take it you're not doing a party for bonfire night though!?!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

I am slowly getting throught the list today, the work for dh is the bit I am putting off!
Hi cath, no I am definatly not doing bonfire night, we are off to my parents thank goodness.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Still no proper food shopping done, but i have been to the 99p store this morning and bought some cleaning stuff and toiletries. I also picked up some mini hot water bottles with fleece covers in there for the kids.
Anyway, I have added up all of octobers op's as I decided to start oping a little bit, and I have surprisingly op'd £274 in the last couple of weeks, although that is squeezing the cash out left for the rest of the year.
We still have £3224 on the 0% cc which is paid off in full by june @ £403 PM , but I think it might be better to pay nov/dec's payments at £403 and then switch to a much lower possibly minimum payment and op the rest as our mortgage deal is up in may. The balance would be around £2418 by then which is not too much of a worry , plus there are plenty of 0% deals around still with transfer fees of less than the mortgage rate. Thinking about it the cc balance was 20K a couple of years ago, so we have done ok really.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I went food shopping at mr s this morning, £24.43 spent, £10 of my daily challenge money plus all the leftover cash saved in my purse bar £2. I managed to get fruit/staples like rice/pasta, some frozen bits for the kids, juice and beans. Now i feel quite deflated, I feel like I should be spending more on food, which I could choose to do if I reduced what i am paying off the 0% card this month.
Its not like the cupboards are bare, but we don't have the crisps and snacks we used to have, or as much fresh meat. I guess I feel a bit guilty when I see other mums trolleys bursting at the seams whilst mine is mainly orange and white.:o
The £10 a day budget has been very hard, I would like to allow more next year I think, its just a shame as dh's wages have gone down by £220ish a month which will add another couple of years to the mortgage, I wanted to offset it a bit by cutting back.
maybe tomorrow I will feel a bit more positive about it all, moan over!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hi Newgirly...i go through stages of being peeved off with the food shopping...it is an ongoing battle to keep the costs down...with household bills they are sorted out every year but with the groceries it is never ending . Most times i go to Mr S the only things in my trolley are basics, whoopsies or special offers...try not to feel guilty, so many people are finding it difficult at the minute and at least we are being proactive and not getting ourselves further into debtCredit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,0000
