Double Glazing

I've just been quoted the following:

French Door & Side Lights £1,653
Kitchen Window £483
Front Door & Side Lights £1,033
Dormer Window £486

The above includes VAT. I took advice and avoided the big companies like Anglian, Everest etc and went for a local company, FENSA registered.

It seems like a good quote to me but then I'd just like to double check. Thanks.

We just had a front door with ornate glass and side panel for £1500 to keep out the cold Welsh winds, had a series of problems and squeezed a back door for £500 ish so your prices sound good. Mind you if you look in B&Q door prices are dirt cheap just have to fit which is the hard bit.

Just had my front door, big square bay window(6ft6x9ft4), and 2 upstairs front windows (5ft6x3ft3) all done in white upvc for £5850. I think we did pay slightly over the odds but instead of the plain old flat plastic frames I had the sculptured profile, which looks nicer. I also had a "balanced profile" which means they all stick out the same and you can't tell which ones open from the outside, and a handmade design in all the fanlights which was an extra £400 for the 10 fanlights but worth every penny. We used a company from the councils approved traders list, FENSA and GGF registered, so we were pretty sure we'd be ok with them. One thing I have to warn you about is if you want to try and do it yourself find out what will happen if you sell your house. A friend of mine was recently unable to sell because they had done DIY double glazing and the buyers survey brought this up. Because they had no FENSA certificate it all had to be inspected at their cost, they then had to fit extractors into some of the windows and change a lot of hinges......what may seem like a great saving at the time might cost you more in the long run.
