Cost of Homebuyers report

I am buying a house for £245000, does £380 seem a reasonable cost for the homebuyers survey and valuation report?

Kind regards.

That seems very reasonable to me, it's comparable to what we've paid in the recent past. We paid more than that this time just for a valuation! But there are exceptional circumstances in our case.

Yes that sounds good to me too.We just paid £500 but that was on a valuation of £400k and some surveyors were quoting us around £700 to £800 to do it.

We recently paid £615 for a property not too far above your value so £380 sounds very good.

How many quotes did you get? It's like everything else ... you need to shop around a bit.

Might be worth a couple of phone calls though. You can find a list of local surveyors from the Institution here

Most of the quotes we got ( and we got 3 or 4) were around the £700 to £800 mark ,but we spoke to our estate agent and she recommended one to us which was only £500,so that was great. She also recommended an electrician to us and he seems pretty reasonable too,so its worth asking your agent if you trust them.
