Ordinary Power of Attorney (OPA)

I wish to give an OPA to a family member whilst I am abroad. This is so that he can see through the sale of my house and deal with the associated financial issues.

I phoned my solicitor and he charges £80 plus VAT. I see that The LawPack and other websites offer packages for this sort of thing for about £15 or less.

Do these have the same 'legal weight' or 'validity' as getting it done by a solicitor?

Thanks.

my husband granted me PoA to deal with the sale of our house whilst he was at sea. It cost us £90 + VAT and we went through a solicitor. not sure about the website packages as we had to produce passports/utility bills etc and sign the document in front of the solicitor.

I personally feel safer with the document produced through the solicitor.
  • I would advise you not to use an internet based company.

You will have a qualified solicitor locally who will be worth the slightly extra cost, which will give you complete sucurity.

    Prices quoted appear very reasonable.
