Agreed, that is the nature of the web.
However, it is not the nature of financial services. If I follow someones recommended course of action and it goes wrong then the person recommending the course of action is at fault, not me.
Pammy, please dont take this the wrong way, but would I be right in saying you are taking a common sense aproach to this thread? Do you work in an FSA regulated industry, or are you just being helpful?
CheersI am a Mortgage Adviser

I agree with happybroker here.
I think some of the "professionals" forget that mortgages can be confusing and bloody scary for people who don't eat, sleep and breathe them. Yes there are some daft questions, but if everyone who posts here just gets their head bitten off, then no-one will post here and this sub-forum will die a death.
I sometimes find the hugz in the DFW forum a bit nauseating, but this can be a little too much in the other direction sometimes.0 -

The same also goes for "professionals" posting...ie "oh no problem lots of my clients are doing this"......Is this giving people false hope or hoping to "generate" enquiries....as posters think they can help them?0 -

Just adding my observations. No I don't work in that field at all but as someone who runs a busy online community I appreciate some of the issues that are being discussed.
I can phone a broker and still get bad advice (I have) so I personally come here looking for a range of opinions and then base my decisions on being informed. I couple that with excessive web searches.
For many on here it feels like a first step to clarify their situation and then next step for many is a solicitor or broker etc.
I would like to think its mostly adults here who have the ability to realise this is the internet and anyone can say anything.
But if one person gives bad advice someone will usually point that out.0
