Problem with SD Card in Camera

I have a Praktica DPIX 5201g Camera and went to put a SD Card in it today and when i turn the Camera on after putting the card in it keeps coming up with a message saying that the Card needs Formatting but im not sure what to do.
Why is it coming up with that message and how can i get round it?

How big is the SD card, and is it an SD HC card?
That appears to be quite an old camera. Their website says "supports SD cards up to 1GB", so it probably won't work with an SD HC card.0 -

Have u recently moved photos from ur camera to ur computer/laptop? normally when u do that what a lot of people do after is format the SD card this removes everything off the SD card so make sure u have saved them. if u connect it to ur computer and right click the icon it will come up with the option to format just do a quick format and it should fix the problem.

Its a big card not like a card that you put into a mobile.

Yes after i put the pics from Camera to my pc i take them off the Camera.
I see it only takes a 1GB SD card so would it matter if i put a 2GB card in or dont that matter and could that be a reason on why the card ive got wont work?
Ive done a format by putting my SD card into my laptops card reader but when i put the card into camera it still comes up with the message please put a formatted card in!!!!0
