Anyone had dealings with Accord Mortgages recently?

Options
I am due to apply for an Accord mortgage tomorrow but just looking at reviews online seems that they are a little slow in dealing with the request. Basically i am trying to get finance sorted asap. Any advice? Any brokers care to share your experience with them? :)

Haven't got bad things to say really - they can be a bit picky, but then again all lenders are the same.

    Thanks guys, appreciate that. :)
  • I have a 10-year fixed rate deal with Accord and one year in they increased my monthly payments without explanation. Three years in I'm trying to move house and they have requested all the usual stuff, salary advice slips, bank statements etc however they have also contacted my employers HR department to get a faxed copy of my signed contract of employment and now want a list of all my pension funds, values and contribution histories. I am 43 years old and my mortgage has another 15 years to run. I've never missed a payment and am not in arrears. They have been processing my mortgage transfer application for over six weeks now and I still haven't got an answer. Every week they come up with some new excuse why the application is being held up like they need another up to date bank statement and the latest one is can I supply them with details of my pension funds! All I want to do is move house yet Accord seem incapable of processing the paperwork. My buyer and seller are ready to move and already have the paper work at their solicitors ready to sign. I can't switch lenders at this time, Accord have locked me in for 10-years with a massive early redemption fee so I'm stuck with them for another 7 years. So much for my IFA giving good advice. By the way, Accord charge £10 every time you want an account balance and add this to your mortgage so you end up paying even more interest!

ACCORD have locked you in? Did they put a gun to your head when you took the mortgage out?
YOU applied to them for the mortgage, YOU signed to the T&C and YOU quite happily accepted a mortgage with ERCs.
But of course, it's all Accord's / your brokers fault isn't it.
  • I knew what I was getting into with regards payments and so on however when it came to moving house I didn't expect Accord to contact my employers HR department and request a faxed copy of my signed contract of employment and why are they asking for a valuation of my pension funds. You can only take 25% of these as a lump sum anyway at retirement yet Accord would seem to want access to these funds in order to loan me back the money they have already lent me. Can I meet the mortgage payments, yes, can I make overpayments, yes. Why does it take over six weeks to transfer a mortgage to a new property. Why do they leave it until 17:15 on a Friday to request some new piece of obscure information. Why do Accord not allow you to use your own surveyor versus their own people. Why have my buyer and seller got their paperwork sitting at their solicitors office ready to sign when I'm still waiting for Accord to say we are prepared to lend you the same amount of money. Accord are just a nightmare to deal with.

we have just applied for a mortgage with accord - currently with HSBC.
AIP the same day - valuation done the following tuesday and offer letter came through friday of that week - was very quick , although they did ask for a lot more information than we have previously been asked for in the past - but I guess these are the times we are now in.
All paperwork required was submitted to them by fax the same day.
