Stupid question about showers!!

I know this is a silly question but really need an answer!

You the the pole that the shower head is attached to that you can move up and down to adjust the height of the shower head? Are these all standard heights??

My reason for asking is that we need a new one, but don't want to buy one and find out that we're going to have to drill new holes to fit it.

Every place I've looked doesn't state the length of the pole, which leads me to believe they're all standard size and will just screw into the pre existing holes, but I'd like confirmation.........HELP PLEASE!!

They come in all different lengths. I would measure the one you have and then see if you can get one to match. You could maybe go into somewhere like B&Q, Homebase, local bathroom places and anywhere else that has them in stock and then try and find a match.

No there not standard, some will have different lengths, some will have 2 holes per end. Best i can suggest if not getting an exact replacement is to get one that is slightly longer, the pole should then be able to be cut down to length.

nobody else mentioned so I will.riser rails are not only different lengths but also different pole girths,so a handset holder from a mira will not fit a triton pole etc.

they are all different. some of them have adjustable fixing brackets though.
the brackets slide up and down the rail.
    Get some gorm.
  • I can confirm what the previous poster said about adjustable fixing points. I just fitted one of these myself from Homebase and the bottom bracket is fixed but the top one then slides up and down the pole to match your existing screw holes. 1 screw through each and it seems pretty sturdy...

Dont forget to put a little sealant round the brackets when fitting :)

Themightystu is correct. I recently replaced mine and the bottom bit is fixed and the top bit slides up and down so you can easily match it up to the original rawl plug fixings.

I would recommend that you buy a decent quality one; ideally, chrome plated brass rather than the **** metal ones from the DIY stores. It will last for ever.
