What should I do?

Hi guys, first post here,

I have 2 credit cards totaling 8000. I have been trying to apply for a 0% card (virgin) so I can really start paying some off. I have been unable to get one though through multiple companies. Even though my credit report on experian is good. I also tried getting a loan to consolidate my cards and pay them off but again it was rejected. What can I do? Am I just going to have to pay it the slow and painfully way? It sucks as I just got engaged and we were wanting to start saving for our wedding. Also got a letter today saying Santander are reducing my overdraft by 900 in 4 weeks. It doesn't rain it pours!

At least you don't have to worry about waiting until you go on your honeymoon to get well and truly fu**ed :-)

Multiple applications = reduced credit rating = screwed.

I think in your eagerness to resolve the problem you may possibly have made it worse, it may be that the multiple applications have actually alerted Santander to your predicament, therefore they have gone into self defense mode and reduced their exposure

That's what I thought, after being with abbey for 10 years then they screw me over. I just wish someone could make the decision to give me a loan or 0% card instead of a poxy computor. Anyone could seeit would help me reduce my debt not make it worse!

I can't find a stipulation that you must be a homeowner

Guess I should ask my husband where he keeps his house, as he has only just got a virgin card and we don't own our house!

Right well this site is wrong then

    Virgin Credit Card
    Please Ensure That
    You are currently employed
You are over 23 years of age
    You are a homeowner
You have an income of over £20,000
You do not have any recent credit defaults (CCJ's, current arrears or missed payments) on credit cards / loans / mortgages
You are a resident in the UK and can prove residential addresses for the past two years...http://www.creditcardsweb.co.uk/cards-special/

Is that from MSE or Virgin? The latter says:

You can apply for a Virgin Credit Card if you can answer YES to these 3 questions:
    • Are you 18 or over?
    • Do you live in the UK?
    • Do you have a bank or building society account?
