Combined USB2 and wifi laptop card for old laptop

I have an HP pavilion ze4130 laptop. I currently use a 3com 54mbps 11g dongle in a USB2 adapter card (one external card slot). When in the room next to my wifi internet router (10 yds, open door, 2.5ft stone wall) the signal is very weak and drops out from time to time. Is it possible to get a dongle with better reception or a combined USB2 and wifi card with better reception? Thanks for any ideas!
