unable to update mircosoft

Hi everyone

I hope someone can help me, I seem to be having a problem update my windows Xp, it won't update anything, I have atried the fix it site, but that did not help. I keep getting in most of the sites, error massage 0x80072efe, on windows defender security essentials as well, also ox8004ffob. When I try and look these up on the mircosoft site it says that they are not real. Very confusing. Please if anyone out there has had this probelm and resolved it. I would be grateful for your help.

Scan for nasties then take from there ~

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')

Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

MMM it might work now but it it makes sense to do as Rik said and post the logs here too , there might be bits left behind and may cause more problems later

You really should post those logs as requested

For all we know you might have a keylogger on your machine (meaning someones recording EVERYTHING you do)

Paste in to notepad first, and then do a search / replace all http with hxxp, copy and paste here again
