Mondial Travel Insurance Via First Choice

Thumbs down for Mondial Travel Insurance not covering "volcanic disruption". First Choice required I take this insurance out if I wanted to book their accommodation, I won't be bothering to book with them in the future.

A company cant force you to take their insurance, I am sure that practice became illegal a few years ago :)

Well no they can't "force" you but you can't book the accommodation otherwise if you go via the First Choice website to book a holiday as it's already built into the booking form. At least that's the impression I formed. If you go through the process you will see.

Is there any travel insurance that would have covered volcanic disruption?

I have gone through the process and insurance is optional.
  • My wife recently purchased this travel insurance JULY/AUGUST 2010. using the money supermarket website!

Yes it was cheap, for the 10 days we went away for in Portugal, however I lost my glasses. My glasses I use every day/ day in - day out / I have prescription sunglasses which i use when out and about walking on the beach etc, I lost my normal everyday glasses on the beach. "I take my normal glasses with me incase I go into a shop and cannot see and need them rather than sunglasses"

The point is the value you put on needing glasses, I can not see with out them? I paid in the region of £350.00 for my original pair then when I came back from holiday after reporting to the police etc to have to lose a days work whilst I get another pair sorted at £250.00. Mondial payed out £100.00 because they take wear & tear into consideration.

My Glasses have no value to anyone else except me, so they are worth more than the money offered, also they take your home insurance details as well, so they can reduce the cost between each insurer?

My home excess was less than Modial's excess? did they take that into consideration, does this affect you home insurance?

I am glad to see (sorry for those who have lost out) that First Choice are listed as one of the Holiday company's as insurance cover so you can avoid them.

They also took so long to deal with the claim/ being put on hold/ the phone just ringing - I thought it was a one man band company. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED....

    UNHAPPY
