Microsoft Windows Updates - How Often Should I Install?

Hi,

I get the Microsoft Windows Updates prompt appearing in the yellow symbol in the bottom right task bar every few days, I think I've set it to download automatically without installing automatically, should I install it every time I get this prompt?

For security purposes and within reason, how often is it recommended to install these updates per month?

They normally only come once a month unless there is an urgent out-of-cycle fix which the one before last was.

There is no need to install them at all but not doing so may leave your machine open to hackers.

Just install whenever it pops up, there's no real reason not to. You'll potentially be leaving yourself open to security holes, plus it'll only be a small download each time rather than having to spend ages if you leave them to pile up
