New build road nearby

Hi
Apologies if I am in the wrong part of the forum, but cant see where to post.

A huge new sainsburys is being built about 100 yards away from my house on land that was an old gass works 20 years ago. A new road, not much further away is being built to bring the traffic in and out.

AmI entitled to any compensation due to the noise - to have my house double gazed etc?
If so, who do I approach / hire.

Thanks

Who's building the road? Highways Authority, or local authority, or Sainsburys?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

When the second severn crossing was built all the houses in surrounding village were written to by a legal company advising us we were entitled to compensation.

This was one year and one day after the bridge opened - some legal thing I think. We had a few hundred pounds, with those nearest getting more. We had to do nothing, I presume it was a sort of 'no win no fee' thing, even though they weren't as common as they are now. I don't know if you can instigate this sort of thing yourself.

The local authority is usually the Highways Authority, sometimes you'll have a Highways Authority like in Lancashire which is the County Council and the smaller borough councils do not have a Highways department. Or they could mean the Highways Agency.

If it's the Highways Agency (sorry Agency not Authority - did they change their name whilst I wasn't looking?) details are here:
    http://www.highways.gov.uk/roads/2568.aspx

BTW, if it's just a road serving a single store and it's 100m away, don't get your hopes up.

I think that you will be able to leave the store via the existing road whereby it was originally a dead end.
