when my dad gets picture messages sent to his phone he always has to go online to a webpage and input a password to see the picture. why is this? shouldnt he just be able to see the picture on his phone? he has a samsung sgh-u600. is there a setting he can change? does anyone know how to do it for this phone? the instruction booklet is a waste of time.

can he actually receive photos on his phone? I know I can't on my Nokia so I get a message with a password to view online0

Its probable the he doesnt have mms setup correctly on his mobile.
Why not try the samsung mms sender, just enter the required info and it'll send the settings to the phone, then try sending him a new picture message!

Hi there, I reckon you can just make one up, say 1234. When the settings are received you'll probably have to enter the pin nr to install them.Useful is beautiful0 -
well i did it all but now after sending a picture from my phone it hasnt gone. on my phone it says the message is queued. i also noticed my phone was connected to the net for some reason. it has never done that before. as the net costs a fortune i turned my phone off to make sure it disconnected from the net.0

silly question but did you send the settings to your phone or your dads?
Regarding being connected to the internet I believe (dont quote me!) that mms messages go via GPRS/3g so while its trying to send it might look like you're connected to the internet.Useful is beautiful0 -
the message finally went. nothing has changed he still has to go to a webpage and put in a password to see it. could the issue be related to the network provider? he is on the same network as me though and i never had this problem.0

thats ok, no i did send the settings to the right phone.
i have rarely sent a picture messages. i didnt think it went via the net. as it took a few minutes to go i was getting worried i would have no credit left by the time it had gone. i've checked my balance and they have only charged for the message. so i was worrying over nothing as far as that is concerned.0 -

No worries.
It may be that your dad doesnt have MMS activated on his phone account. Get him to ring the network (O2, Orange or whoever) and check if MMS is activated. If not then they can do this for him but it can take up to 24 hours to start working. ;o)Useful is beautiful0
