Help! Garage made car worse - what can I do?

I took my car to a local garage for a service yesterday. The only problem with it was that it needed new brake pads. They did the service and fitted the new pads.

After billing me £490 for the service and pads, as I was driving home I noticed that the car engine was EXTREMELY noisy and did not sound good at all. Nothing like it usually sounds.

It was absolutely fine when I took it in. The garage are claiming it's nothing to do with them and are refusing to take any action.

What can I do about this situation? Luckily I paid with a credit card - should I try and file a chargeback and then take the car to another garage to try and find out what is wrong?

Thanks for any advice,
