Comet what a bunch of !!!!!, i made the error of buying a wifi printer £100 without ( for once!!) checking here, what a palava......apparently though it was still in warrenty it was up to me to go to Epson & sort it out as the store would do nothing. Long story short, i would never ever give them my money again & make sure i send everyone to Argos who don't argue if its in warranty & replace the damn item!!
Nice to see the rep coming on here, when i called headoffice, i was completely fobbed off, seems they want to be seen to be doing stuff, but at ground level employ staff who don't have a clue & have never heard of customer service, i hope they are one of the casualties of this recession
No one said it was gonna be easy!0 -

The thing is, you could and perhaps should have taken action against Comet.0 -
After 20 years repairing domestic appliances,
1. Wouldn't you have had the knowledge to buy a better constructed vacuum cleaner?
2. Wouldn't you have developed the ability to speak to females without taking such an arrogant, misogynistic attitude towards them?
3. Wouldn't you have developed the common sense to realise that talking to people with respect tends to get better results than a Neanderthal threat to smash their windows?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

1) lol, i am disabled and on benefits, i brought what i could afford at the time, well constructed or not ANY product sold should be fit for purpose
2)i spoke to males and females, the fact that the female on the phone was either a) incompetant or b) pig ignorant is no reflection on my ability to communicate, i dont make comets policies, and i didnt write the sale of goods act either, i mereley asked that they adhere to it, they chose to imply that i was an idiot by telling me there own interpretation of the law overrides the actual law
3) i was very respectfull and at no point raised my voice, swore or behaved rudely, however i was very frustrated at being LIED to by a representitive of a multi million pound company in order to save them a paltry £80 refund, maybe you would find such behaviour acceptable? i certainly dont, i wasted about 2 hours on the phone and due to my disability am housebound a lot of the time, it took a lot out of me getting to comets store with the plastic turd and i am unable to get there again in the forseeable future, its a simple concept, a vaccum cleaner with which i cannot vaccum my home is not fit for the purpose it was sold for, if you still believe that i was rude use the forum search facility and put in "comet sale of goods act" , you will find several pages of people complaining about comets attitude towards the law and their complete lack of respect for it!, i wasnt rude or disrespectfull to the girl on the phone, but if comet choose to employ people with total disregard for the law of this country then you can only expect bad reactions from customers, although i suspect its more about comets policies and poor training than the girls ignorance, however , the fact remains that comet are rude, disrespectful and ignorant of the law in addition to encouraging there staff to lie bare faced to customers over the phone rather than give a small refund, a quote from comets guarantee "All our products carry a minimum 12 months manufacturers gaurantee. During this time we'll either repair it for free, exchange it or give you a full refund dependant on the product and your rights. Proof of purchase is required and manufacturers conditions may apply" That is there wording and not mine , after 4 atempts at repair it still has faults and has spent more time in the cupboard waiting for parts to arrive than it has hoovering, i took it to the store and asked for an exchange for a better quality item and was prepared to pay them the difference there and then without any success whatsoever, the guy merely gave me his interpretation of the act and sent me on my way, then after two hours of being lied to on the telephone by comet representatives they refused to replace it either under there own guarantee as quoted earlier or under the sale of goods act, at the time of the phone conversation the item was still within the 1 year purchase guarantee, and if MATT the comet representitive is at all interested in resolving the situation rather than giving the appearance of being concerned on a public internet forum there is a pm system on here that is perfectly adequate

maybe matt should read up on the sale of goods act himself before stating that comet always adhere to it publicly, which after using the search facility and reading all the other comet posts on this forum regarding the act is quite obviously a big fat fib0 -

I think you are being unfair. Whilst I find Comet a dismal organisation, you appear not to have actually given them the opportunity of reviewing this.
In any event, if you think you are right from the SOGA perspective, pop down to your local County Court and issue a summons.0 -

they could have reviewed it when i took it to the store, they could have reviewed it when i telephoned them(on more than one occasion), aside from taking it into store (which i did) and telephoning them(which i did) i cant see what else i could have done?, im also mostly housebound so getting to the small claims court is not realy a viable option for me, i took the reciept, i pointed out the promise on it to refund, i also pointed out that besides being within the manufacturers warranty period the sale of goods act is still relevant, i have spoken to vax on several occasions who have told me that if comet staff could be bothered to contact them they will confirm all of the issues i have had with the appliance, i even gave comet contact names and details of the staff i had spoken to at vax, please tell me what i have missed out? i even gave comets authorised repairer (vax) plenty of opertunities to repair it before i mentioned the sale of goods act, comet do not make the law , but they have not complied with it either on more than one occasion, i fail to see what i have missed or could have done differently?0 -
Which is fair enough as your contract is with Argos not the manufacturer and you should have gone back to them in the first instance
A lot of Vax products have a great big yellow sticker on them saying "do not take back to the shop call xxxxxxxxxxxxx" obviously a lot of less informed people would just do what the stickers say if there is a fault rather than what they should do under SOGA0 -
