Cooker hood ,extraction or recirculate?

We have bought a cooker hood to help combat condensation.
The hood can be used with or without extraction ,am I right in thinking the only way it will work for condensation is with extraction ?
Cheers :)

If you recirculate it will filter the air but wont help with condensation as far as I'm aware. You need to extract the air to prevent that.

recirculation is about as much use as a chocolate teapot. I changed mine over for to an extraction and noticed a huge difference. It does depend on you having a suitable kitchen to have a vent hole though...

Worth adding that there's quite a range of low profile rectangular ducting available if you need to take the duct across the room.

latecomer and fluffpot are absolutely correct.

To get rid of condensation then a hood on recirculate is utterly, absolutely and totally of no use whatsoever.

Installed incorrectly, a hood is as above.

I wrote a lot of it up here in this article if you're interested in all the details.

Thanks everyone :) ,that's what I thought ,its up on the wall now ,just need to get to B&Q for the venting kit .
we are going about 10ft over the cupboards but the recirculate would have been useless anyway ,as we discovered when we put it up that we couldn't use the extension chimney as it would be too high but the extension was the only part of the chimney that was vented *rolleyes* excellent design Hotpoint ....
