In some respects it isn't about proving if you received any monies...ie a wage although this would be fraud if you did and didn't declare this. The issue you will face is the asset value of the company.
If I have a share in a private company that has an asset value of £1 because this limits my liability to that £1 then it is a moot point, however, if the company owns property, cars, machinery etc then the value may be in the £10's even £100's of thousands. This is an asset which should be declared.
This is what the DWP will want to know, if they though the company was worth more than your limit, then they would call you in for an interview under caution. They are giving you an opportunity to explain yourself as they cannot go any further with their investigations without asking you and have no grounds to stop your claim.
Hope this helps0 -

I thought I would let you know about my meeting with the fraud investigator, he turned up this morning and not monday!
It was about the company and also that someone had alleged i was working at a toy shop. The allegation was made last year in about june. Its taken them all this time to get round to me!
The supposed toy shop that i had been 'working at' was in fact a job application i had made. i never even got an interview for the job! There was one person who knew I had applied for that job and it was my friend of 15 years. I'm devasted that she could do this to me.
She had also told them about the company and that i am a director..... he explained that i am allowed to be a director and be on benefits as long as i am not working for the company and taking any wages. My dad was here and told him that he would supply any accounts he needed.
The investigator told me he was satisfied with everything he had heard and that the matter was closed.
On a positive note he also made sure i was receiving the correct benefits that i should be given. he told me that my child maintenance no longer qualifies as income so from the 12th april my jsa should goup to 65.45 instead of the 3.30 i recieve at present, wop woop!
Many thanks for all yr help and i know where to come if i need to in future. A big X to everyone.0 -
About a year ago my father started a company and as he needed two directors, he asked me to be one. .
A limited company can be set up with a single director and a company secretary (they can't be the same person). Why did your father think he needed two? And why were you not offered the company secretary position which tends to be regarded as an unpaid administrative role?
As you have no decision making role, nor income from the company, you should resign from it.0 -
Well good news and bad news day I guess.
At least you know, that is always what counts. Now you can deal with it and that is for you to decide.
Good luck with the future.0
