Thanks Jess
Its seems to be kaplan or bbp as my choice, For Level 2 its about £1000 for bbp but £600ish for kaplan - i am trying to understand what the difference is in the two packages!
Advice appreciated thanks Jess0 -
Jessica - have you experience of BPP in Leeds? Planning on starting ACCA this year (assuming employer will fund it), but still trying to decide who to go with. Would be Leeds or Hull for me by the looks of things, possibly Sheffield...
I've always found them to be really good. They are well organised and the tutors well trained. They are co-ordinated nationally so you can reasonably expect to get the same standard of tuition at each centre.
I never dealt with Kaplan but they both have good reputations as training providers. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
Hi Folks
I recently started on the AAT course and I am at the certificate stage. I was made redundant from my credit control job about 5 months ago, and now still looking for a job.
Can someone please advice what type of job I should apply for, which can also help me with this course i.e. can be included as work experience.
Many Thanks0 -

try the various agencies, there are a lot specialist financial recruiters like Hays, Michael Page, Robert Half etc. A lot of independent ones too that obviously depend on where you live. Most of the ones in my area tend to get posted on https://www.gaapweb.com which I have recommended on here before. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

Sorry for being a bit 'thick', but what would be the natural progression from an accounts assistant?

I don't wish to sound harsh but you said earlier that you have already started AAT yet you don't appear to have researched at all with regards to what you will do with it or how accountancy works
I think you will find it hard to get a job if you don't sound a bit more knowledgable about what you are studying and your career intentions.
Try looking at the AAT, ACCA and CIMA websites for info about courses, jobs and career progression. Then start looking for Accounts Assistant roles. You say you have credit control experience so that is a good start.
Good luck

There are many different routes depending on where you want your career to end up. I'd suggest knowing the end game and then working back from there. What do you want to be in 5 and 10 years time? Finance Director? Large or small company? Some people will happily stay in a assistant type role long term as they are happy to work the 9-5 and dont want the extra work that comes with further career progression. Others will work as hard as they can to be in a senior finance role within 10 years. Either can work but it has to be what is right for you. The only thing to add really is that unless you get on some sort of graduate job rotation training scheme - if you do want to develop then you will generally have to change jobs frequently in order to progress at any sort of speed. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
Hi Folks
I am at the certificate stage of the AAT and out of work at the moment. I am now planning to write speculative letters to local accountancy firms, in the hope of gaining work experience.
Can someone please suggest what I should include in the letter? For example, shall I include the major topics covered in the course up till now, or shall I include that info in the CV.
Many Thanks0
