Newly separated - working tax credit entitlement

I have recently separated from my husband and at the same time had to go part time to be available for my son when he finishes school.
I'm not sure if I can now claim WTC or if I have to wait a certain length of time before we are separated?
I had a look on the website to do a calculation to see if I could claim but you have to enter last years income, but last year I was full time and had my husbands income too, is there a way of getting around that so they look at my expected income for this year?
any advice would be appreciated

You need to work 16 hours and you should put your claim in straight away.
You can put in an estimated claim for this tax year, but over estimate so you don't get an overpayment. good luck!0 -
thanks for that, I now work 20 hours, but is there an option on the form to give estimated amounts?0
