High Brooms is ok, Rusthall not that great, but overall Tunbridge Wells is pretty nice (and pricey!). What about Tonbridge? It has a bad reputation but it's largely undeserved - you get a LOT more for your money. Or Hildenborough?0

I agree with bunglejemson. I would say that the southern area of Tunbridge Wells is better than the end nearer Tonbridge. If you want good primary schools you don't want High Brooms.
If you look to the villages outside of Tunbridge try Frant, Wadhurst, Ticehurst.0 -
High Brooms has a lot of cheaper & smaller properties, and some of the roads are quite shabby. It is close to the industrial / retail parks, good access to the A21 and it has its own station, so you might find the location convenient.
Rusthall used to be a separate village but is now joined to TW. Again, there is a lot of cheap housing there, though the location is not as good.
Southborough is another area that spreads along the road towards Tonbridge. It has plenty of shops along the main road. It is more of a mixed area with cheap housing nearest the main road but some lovely big houses too.
As the other posters say, you could consider Tonbridge. It isn't as good for shopping as TW, but has better transport links. I don't agree that it is cheaper than TW - flats and smaller houses are about the same, mid-range houses are dearer in Tonbridge, but TW has more big houses.
You need to go and have a look around, and decide what is important for you. Do you need to be near good schools? Or do you want to be walking distance to town centre or station? Estate agents should be able to advise too.0 -
Thanks for the replies...very helpful. I was toying with High Brooms area but wasnt sure now feel alot better about the area. As Kavajo mentions its very convenient for transport and St Johns primary school is near. I will have a look around to seee what's available. DOes anyone know where the council estates in Tun Wells are as not really keen to move near council estates.0
