    Just thinking what they may say in response to your points: did you not notice that £10 was not being deducted from the meter? Did you not save that £280 - you could always write a cheque/pay by debit card etc. etc ;)

    In otherwords, you owe the money, but they made the mistake of not putting the debt on the meter, so now you are trying to get the debt or some of it written off.
    What a wonderfull world we live in!
  • If the OP can get some of the debt written off because of a mistake on the company's behalf when they suggested you get a meter installed to pay off the debt then good on them - no need for the "what a wonderful (one L) world blah blah blah" is there?

    If your disciplined at saving you should not contact them at all as you can have an an interest free loan for as long as it takes them to figure that out plus the debt will devalue against inflation, double plus good! :rotfl:
