recently my mouse has started to double click, even if i only press it once
any ideas on how to rectify the problem, as im fed up of jumping back two screens, rather than one, or highlighting a whole sentence rather than just one word, when editing

There is a mouse/keyboard option within the Windows Control panel. I'd check the options in there to make sure that there has been nothing set to make your mouse double click.
Do you have a spare mouse taht you can test? Does that double click? What if you remove your current mouse, plug it in another USB slot and then try again?

I had a Razer gaming mouse that did exactly the same thing, it was a right pain!!
Unfortunately the only solution i found was a new mouse

Clean it.
Blow compressed air under the button, spray switch cleaning fluid under the button, open the mouse up if you feel confident about getting better access to the switch. If that doesn't work, it's new mouse time.0
