Jobseekers Allowance and Emigration

Hello - I am after a little assistance please.
My wife and I are moving to Qatar soon. I go in a few weeks, and she will come out Mid June.
My wife should of been working up until then, but unfortunately got made redundant in March. This is the first time she has been out of work since she was 16.
She has spoken to the job centre, and will be having a meeting today and 'signing on'.
But, just a quick question, I presume we will be OK telling the Job Centre our particular circumstances and it shouldn't change her entitlement???
My only concern is that you are not on 'The Dole' anymore, but need to be actively seeking a job. Is this correct? If so, I presume she will only be able to apply for anything temporary in the next 6 - 7 weeks?
Thanks in advance for any advice / comments.
Cheers.

You can tell them if you wish to but I wouldn't bother, just go with the claim and then get your wife to withdraw her claim before she leaves. My only concern is that you are not on 'The Dole' anymore, but need to be actively seeking a job.
I'm not sure what you mean by this?
If your wife does tell thme about the love then yes she can look for temp work only and this will not affect her entitlement to benefit that she may otherwise be entitled to"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
JSA is for when you are activly seeking permanent/full time employment. What if she got a job? Would she just take it then leave them in the lurch a few weeks later???0

Not true, depending on your circumstances it is possible to be only looking for part-time work and it is also possible ot only be looking for temporary work."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

This is my thought as well. She certainly wouldn't get a job and then leave them in the lurch after just a couple of weeks. That's why I thought it best to say what our situation was?
In all honesty, it will be better if she doesn't work for the next few weeks as there is still lots to sort out. I know this might be the wrong thing to think / say but I am just being honest. We just need a little bit of money to tie her over when I am not here.
Thanks for your feedback.0 -
Is there any reason she cant move just now also?0

How does she intend to demonstrate her jobseeking if she is not genuinely looking for work? You cannot have it both ways - she either signs on and looks for work, or she stays at home and does not sign on.Gone ... or have I?0 -

And this is my dilema! To be honest though, how many people who are signing on are genuinely 'looking for work' though?
We've both been in continuous employment since we were 16, so have contributed over the years.
I am sure she will look for a job, it will just have to be a temporary position with the company knowing she won't be there in a couple of months.0 -

It really does not matter what other people do, unless you want to be branded a dole bludger like the non genuine claimants? Equally it does not matter how long you have paid into the system, it is not a savings account.
Be honest with the JCP. They will very quickly realise she is going away soon if she is only applying for short term work. However, this is not a bar to her claiming. If she has office skills there are plenty of short term placements available to cover holidays etc.Gone ... or have I?0
