Hi- this problem developed last night. When I opened youtube in my opera browser, it didn't work, and the message came up 'upgrade flash'. After a while faffing about uninstalling and reinstalling the latest flash, I tried opening youtube in mozilla firefox- and it works fine.

Not sure what's wrong with Opera, or how to get youtube back to working again on it. I haven't consciously changed any settings.

any advice appreciated :)

edit- problem seems to have solved itself

Very interesting, I've just tried in Opera and am getting same message to "Go upgrade!"

Yet it was fine a couple of days ago hmmmmm

Works fine in IE and Firefox...so either Youtube have changed something or Opera have because (like the OP) I haven't changed any settings either.

How odd... Maybe it's a glitch that will resolve itself in the next day or so. In the meantime, guess I'll just have to use firefox for youtube vids

I had a similar problem a while back - but I can't remember what I did to cure it !! No problems now.

Have you downloaded the latest version of Opera ?

I used to be a devoted Firefox/Thunderbird user but switched to Opera for Browsing & e-mail - very impressed with it !!

    I lied !!
I have the same problem now !

It appears to be affecting some other browsers as well.

Short term work around, which works for me.
When "go upgrade" appears hit "Refresh" on your browser, then before the "go upgrade" appears again again, hit "Stop". Will load and play normally then.

Opera have upgraded their browser.js - a file used to handle incompatible websites - to solve this flash problem on YouTube and elsewhere. Your browser will automatically download this every week when it checks for updates or immediately if you do a help/check-for-updates. They did a similar change earlier in the week to get round the reported Java vulnerability.
