I was due to fly tomorrow with thmas cook to turkey and booked my hotel through seperately travelrepublic, i have tried for 3 days to contact them via various numbers and they keep cutting my calls after waiting 20 mins+. I desperately need to cancel the hotel in turkey that I booked through them, as the flight has just been canx. (and hoprefully get back some or all the money for the hotel) I am so upset with travelreupublic for their lack of help. Is anyone in a similar position that can help, or direct me what to do next, please please help, many thanks

hi i booked my hotel with travel republic too, i paid up front... when my flight was cancelled, i did not bother ringing them, i rang the hotel and explained the situation, they said to contact them when i know for sure i wll be flying,,, i did today and they changed my dates without charging me a penny. i hope it goes well for you too.

    Hi everyone

Sorry if this has been covered already in this thread but has anyone managed to claim money back through easyjet for a cancelled flight. I have followed the weblink they sent when flight was cancelled, created an account on their silly website (separate to the main one) and then can't work out what I do. There is no form to fill in, just a drop down menu for posting a question. I selected 'I want to claim a refund for a cancelled flight' or something like that and then I ca only submit this - I can't complete any details. I've checked every section on the site from notifications to profile and can't find any form to fill in or any details of my flight. I tried to log in to their main website but it just brings up my flight details and then re-directs me to this hopeless site. Has anyone had any luck? I'm really confused :(

    Thanks in advance

    The website is awful.

    Try this link

    http://easyjet.custhelp.com/app/ask

If that works then I'm not sure why they don't just link to that. It's as if they're trying to make it as hard as possible.
  • Guys, what about this scenario: My parents are supposed to fly into the UK with Ryanair on Thu and Sat, respectively, and due to fly back home the Tue after. I am worried that they let them fly here but then let them get stranded for a couple of days - and a £5 ticket price refund wouldn't get them home on the Eurostar, would it... And hotel costs being paid for or not is not the problem, it's getting back to work on time etc. So considering the risk my parents would rather stay at home and fly some other time, or would they loose them if not cancelled by Ryan Air? Do you think Ryanair might be open to cancellations by any chance so they free up spaces for stranded passengers?

Also, I am confused as to whether it makes a difference whether you checked in online before the cancellation (be it on their or on your part) or not. I am worried that Ryanair will find a loophole either way.... :(

What's worse, I also got friends and family flying over from the US, all on non-refundable fares, different story again in terms of regs, but situation is the same as whether to take the risk of flying out (if offered).

Help, I just don't know what to advise my guests and whether to cancel the whole family occasion or not, and what it would mean financially for them if they don't want to risk flying out.

    Thanks!!!!

I am due to go on holiday to Egypt on 7th May for 11 nights, flights booked with thomas cook, hotel booked through Fresh Holidays.
Due to regulations, I know we will have some room for manouver with the airline / flights, however my concern is with the hotel booking + losing our money.
Therefore my question is - is there any way / through any insurance provider that I can purchase travel insurance that would cover this if it should happen again by that date, or would it still be treated as 'the same known event' B.S. that they are using at the moment?
If this is the case - that ALL insurance providers stand by this, where do we stand?

Oh come on, FH Brit, who on earth are Fortis anyway? I applaud them for their quick reaction to the volcano ash problem, but really, there is no way I could recommend an outfit unless I personally know the organ-grinders, especially with Fortis involvement in the ABN Amro fiasco, or must we forget that so quickly? :D
  • Okay, here's the latest.

Flights from Orlando to London for myself, husband and daughter cancelled last Thursday 15th . Rebooked for tomorrow the 20th now also cancelled. Cant get new flights now until 30th April arriving in London May 1st.

Huge hotel bill, given car back as we can't afford to keep it, running out of Thyroxine medication. Supposed to be at work and will probably not be paid.

BA not helping at all, no communication except a text when the flights were cancelled, a very long wait on the phone and a ticket agent who couldn't help with anything except ticketing.

Emails to Thomas Cook tell me they are not responsible as they say we were booked through Expedia, we were not aware that we had booked through expedia as we had booked through Thomas Cook. Also Thomas Cook insurance say its not their problem.

Stranded or what, running out of money and cant afford hotel bill.

Can we claim anything back at all????

    Keep all your receipts.
BA are responsible for your care.
Maybe you will have to force them to pay up after you are back home.

Thank you for your reply. Feeling pretty low at the moment so not looking forward to a fight with BA when we get back or holding out much hope.

We had not had any notification that our flights had been cancelled (found out from the BA website) or of our 'rights' from BA, and I couldn't find anything on their website, so I decided to phone customer services to find out where we stand.
I've just got off the phone for the second time to BA helpline in the States.
In the first call I was told BA would cover accommodation (hotel), and meals for 4 days only, not a lot of help when our flight has been rebooked for 8 days time. When I queried this I was told it was not up for debate or negotiation, thats all that was on offer, after 4 days we were on our own!
Now me being a persistant so and so and feeling a bit peeved at the attitude, phoned again. I had to hang on for nearly an hour, but eventually got through to a lovely, polite and helpful american lady.
She told me BA will pay for our accommodation (any, not just a hotel), up to £100 per BA flight booking per night, and £25 per person per day for food, until we fly back. We need all receipts for monies paid. If we get a taxi back to the airport for our flight home add a receipt for that as well, as BA may pay that as well. She has made a note of this under our BA booking reference, so there should be no problems when we claim when we get home.
Hope this helps any peeps who are booked with BA, and have had flights cancelled.
