uk version of apple ipad delayed by a month

apparantly due to brilliant sales in the U.S, so they are not shipping the ones meant for britain for another month, to try and keep up with demand in the U.S, that is the reason apple are giving anyway, but there are rumours doing the rounds that there is a problem with it on wifi over in the U.S, so that is probably the main reason, as surely the ones meant for britain would be slighly different to the u.s version, at least the packaging would be, so they will have to at the very least repackage them all if they wanted to sell them to the U.S market, which will cost a nice sum, so as being as they have not released the price of it yet for U.K customers expexct the price to be a bit more than you were expecting, as they will want to make up the money somewhere, and as always it will be the brits that get hit hardest in the pocket
Take every day as it comes!!

    yea, that sucks.

I placed an order on www.wheretogetiphone.info on tuesday and got my delivery today.

and i feel the prices are reasonable too. at least we can get our hands onto it rather than waiting all our lives :)

That's just PR spin.. The real reason is the widespread wifi problems that have affected the iPad - they currently have no fix for this other than telling people to replace their routers. They need a month at least to try to fix the iPad

I think the delay is down to it's popularity on the states.

I was lucky enough to test the iPad this week and found the internet connection was lightning quick on our office wireless network in London.

I've also been told by an iPad app development company that forecasts are for sales of up to 10 million units within a year. This was the initial forecast for the entire ebook/slate/tablet/ipad style device and now they reckon Apple will do that on their own. I can believe it.

Actually, Apple's fix doesn't involve replacing your router:

iPads are sold out everywhere here, and Apple are clearly unable to keep up with demand. If Apple diverted resources to manufacturing for other countries, things would be even worse.

I'm not surprised in the slightest that they've delayed the world-wide launch.

ETA: Found this on AppleInsider. Apparently Steve Jobs thinks you're all nuts. :p
