To cut a long story short I've been going through a very stressful time and have been clearing out alot of stuff out, in the past few days around 10 bags for charity. The past few nights, I dropped alot of it off in the Salvation Army, Children in Need and British Heart Foundation bins at local Asdas and Morrisons and amongst the clothing there was quite alot of designer and unworn goods. I've only just heard today that you should always take your donations straight to the shop as the clothes in the bins just get sold as rags and collected by the rag man - is this true? Parking is extremely difficult in this town outside the local charity shops which is why I found the bins more convenient. After hearing this, I really feel quite gutted as some of the clothes were beautiful and I know that some person would have been delighted to have them. I wish I had just given everything to the women's refuge now.

i haven't heard this before - i think they do sort them and any that are not suitable will go for rags - try not to worry about itThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

It can vary, what happens to stuff in the bins, but honestly it's not worth stressing about now because you can't change it.
However, if you've got a lot of stuff to donate - or even more than you can manage to deliver easily - then it's worth finding out who will collect from you.Signature removed for peace of mind0
