Item not as described

Just a quick question -- if I buy something online (from a UK-based shop), and the item is not as described, what happens with regards to the postage costs for sending the item back?

Do I have to pay it myself and be out of pocket through no fault of my own, or can I claim it from the retailer?

Thanks in advance.

I believe that under the Distance Selling Regs, if something is returned, certainly under those circumstances you have to be put back in the position where you were before without any loss.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If returning it under the DSRs it would depend on the retailer's T&Cs whether you would have to pay the return postage. However, the OP wishes to return it because it is not "as described" as defined by the Sale of Goods Act, in which case the retailer must cover the cost of return.
